Our Programs
Our program embraces both general education and vocational training. The children and young adults have the opportunity to learn and develop valuable life skills through a number of activities including Khmer education, Khmer culture, traditional dance and music, handicraft design, dressmaking, sewing and iron welding. The children also attend recreational activities, English language lessons and play sports.
Resident Children
The resident children of Sangkheum Center for Children are children who have for different reasons been orphaned or abandoned by their caregivers. They live under full time care in the centre enjoying all the privileges a stable childhood should contain. The children live in individual houses with a stable 'caregiver' who act as an educator and mentor providing a feeling of a family group.
Non-Resident Children
The non-resident children are children who still have caregivers but living under very difficult circumstances. We encourage these children to live with their caregivers, in their village of origin and provide social adaptation by offering education, vocational training, social relations and medical assistance.
Children participating in our socio-educational program
Through our socio-educational program we work with children from the area surrounding the center. These are underprivileged children that participate in our daily educational activities and recieve if necessary social and medical support.
